Jay - eh, no, no myspace. I did at one point though,
during a particularly social-less (in real life)
period of my life - because that's why we construct
all these digital personas of our life - to compensate
for real life inadequacies and disappointments,
right?

Sandy - no anger or Hulkishness disposition, dude.
Just thinking aloud, really.

Surely somebody has to question the so-called
'authenticity' and/or 'validity' of 'myspace'?
Back in the day, when mp3.com's communal forums
used to preoccupy myself and a thousand other
musicians from around the world, we constantly
questioned our existence, being the insecure,
self-obsessed artists that we were; but also,
we knew that our time was up for quite a long
time, because most of us made an effort to read
the (mp3.com-related) press releases. I'm sure
Hostboard has it troubles - its crappy, change-
able load-time would suggest that - so I'm just
acting out of (cynical?) habit really.

Darren, I think people can use myspace to build their social networks. You are correct, the benefits seem to be more for those in media centres such as LA/environs. Witness JJ's success on myspace.

Personally, I don't wish to have certain people I've seen there know anything about me whatsoever.

Please clarify your last sentence.

In away i kinda agree with Carl on this. It is a high school thing to see how many friends you can get. I have yet to meet somebody new on this. It is also a goo place to find some new music as well.

Darren, if by some chance you are implying that I have engaged in what you are talking about in your last sentence, I only have this to say: I've had people attack me for not discussing myself, and when I do say something more personal, it's twisted around into something else entirely, or it is implied I'm making things up. I'll let people think as they wish to think, it's not worth the time and/or bother.

If I'm wrong about you, then I'm wrong. You truly were not clear in your last post about your meaning, so I consider myself justified.
